Prayer For Rest

By Rhonda Frye

Jesus! How wonderful it would be to be in a state of complete rest? Like—rest from having to take every thought captive. It wears me out to lasso every ungodly thought that floats in my head.

Rest from running—running from ungodly desires and running toward the prize- it makes me tired!

Rest from keeping up my guard—guarding my heart and especially guarding my mouth.

I am spiritually sleep-deprived from staying awake—sin is always crouching at the door and devil is always creeping around like a lion ready to pounce and devour.

I’m tired of letting go—letting go of anger, resentment, and bitterness. Forsaking drains me too and my arms are sore from casting all my cares on You.

I need rest from clothing myself whether it’s dressing up in humility or suiting up in armor.

And Repenting!  —all that turning makes me dizzy.

I can’t wait to be saved from all the filtering, evaluating, weighing doubts, exercising faith, and counting costs.

I’m not complaining, I am so thankful You help me through all of that, but…

One day—One day— I will be able to let my defenses down and just rest.

He said…

This, Rhonda…  THIS— is the Kingdom of God in its fullness. Rest. A way of living that is restored back to what I originally intended. Not just rest, but also bliss, joy, and peace.
